VCDB Schema Changes
- VCdb Schema Changes – The PublicationStage table has been added to the VCdb. This table is referenced in the Vehicle Table. The Vehicle Table also now includes PublicationStageSource and PublicationStageDate fields. These changes are in preparation for the VCdb Efficiency initiative which is expected to go into production in June 2012. Until then all existing VCdb Vehicle records and additions will be coded as Stage 4 indicating that they are complete.
- The VCDB ER diagram reflecting these changes is available here.
New Vehicles
- 26 model year 2012 vehicles added covering Chevrolet, Maserati, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Toyota. This brings us to 100% coverage for anticipated 2012 vehicles.
- 4 model year 2013 vehicles have been added covering the new Chevrolet Malibu. It is scheduled to go on sale in Q3 2012.
Other Updates
- 2012 BMW 328i and 335i updates – BMW has introduced the new 328i Sedan and 335i Sedan with an F30 body code for the 2012 model year. This vehicle goes on sale February 11. It will be sold alongside the existing Wagon, Coupe, and Convertible with E91, E92, and E93 body codes respectively. While the F30 series 328i uses a new 2.0L 4 cylinder engine, the F30 series 335i uses the same 3.0L 6 cylinder as the E92 and E93. As a result, there is a single Legacy record for the 2012 335i representing both the new F30 series and the existing E91, E92 and E93 series.

Other Recent VCDB Changes
The 2008-2010 Dodge Ram 4500 and Ram 5500 have been changed to Light Duty vehicles. The 2011-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 have also been added.
Redundant Legacy Vehicle records: Approximately 2,400 Legacy records (Model Years 1960 – 1974) have been deleted that represented redundant coverage with older published Legacy records.
Redundant Othermotive Records have been deleted when a vehicle was defined for more than one type. These changes can be found in the vcdbchanges table.
The Model Name field was extended to 100 characters to accommodate certain Othermotive model names (mostly Motorcycles) that were cut off by the previous 50 character field length.
Legacy Sunset December 2012 – The Legacy Make Model (MM) table will be retired in December 2012. The table will no longer be published and references to the MM Legacy data will be removed from the VCdb. Is your AAIA Legacy Migration plan on schedule?
