Sept. 25, 2008 - "Obtaining Access to Vehicle Service Information and Tools: A Global Update:" Education Session Scheduled for AAPEX 2008
BETHESDA, MD – Sept. 25, 2008 – AAPEX attendees will be briefed on progress by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) and its partners toward obtaining access to car company tools, software and service information needed to work on today’s highly-computerized vehicles, both in the U.S. and globally, during an educational program presented by AAIA, entitled, “Obtaining Access to Vehicle Service Information and Tools: A Global Update.” The session will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. in the Sands Expo Center, rooms 303/304.
This seminar will provide an opportunity for attendees to obtain an update on the good and the bad news regarding the global battle for access to repair information, software and tools, as well as a look at how advances in vehicle technology might impact these battles in the not to distant future. Speakers for this session include Aaron Lowe, vice president, government affairs, AAIA, and Scott Smith, Automotive Industries Association of Canada.
Attendees will learn:
- Successes/milestones in the U.S., Canada and Europe reached in obtaining full access to vehicle service information and tools.
- Challenges still to be addressed to ensure a level playing field for the independent shop and the franchised car dealer.
- How advances in vehicle technology might impact the ability to independent shop’s ability to repair future cars.
All AAIA educational sessions at AAPEX are approved by the University of the Aftermarket for CEU credit toward the AAP and MAAP certificates.
