Sept. 23, 2008 - “Secrets to Successfully Working with the Millennial Generation:” Education Session Scheduled for AAPEX 2008
BETHESDA, MD – Sept. 23, 2008 – AAPEX attendees will learn about the Millennial generation, born between 1980 and 2000, and how to recruit and retain them, during an educational program presented by Gregory Mayo, Human Resource Solutions, Inc., entitled, “Secrets to Successfully Working with the Millennial Generation.” The session will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Sands Expo Center, rooms 303/304.
Born into the world of the Internet, cell phones and video games, Millennials are tech savvy with short attention spans. Raised by “Helicopter” Baby Boomer parents who pushed them to excel, Millennials are natural multi-taskers brimming with confidence.
So where does this leave Millennials as up and coming employees? And how will employers effectively recruit and retain a group of workers predicted to drastically change how companies organize and communicate? Learn the secrets for working with and supervising Millennials that will help even the most pessimistic of managers effectively leverage this generation.
Attendees will learn:
- The characteristics of the four generations in the workplace.
- How to recognize the stereotypes that prevent us from understanding a different generation.
- Specific approaches for successfully recruiting and retaining millennial employees.
All AAIA educational sessions at AAPEX are approved by the University of the Aftermarket for CEU credit toward the AAP and MAAP certificates. AAPEX will be held Tuesday Nov. 4 through Thursday, Nov. 6 in Las Vegas, Nev. For updated information on additional sessions, dates, times, locations and sponsors, visit www.aapexshow.com.
